Do ski simulators work?

Does the Infiniski Simulator work?

We started work with a 9 year old dry slope racer who started racing in March 2021. He trained hard and progressed massively during the dry slope season in the UK. He won races, made podiums and at 10 was, and is, the fastest skier in his school (which goes up to year 8).

He entered his first Alpine season in February this year and has just finished at the British Alpine Championships in Tignes, where he finished 13th in the Giant Slalom!

And as one Teams Head Coach has commented - that clearly shows how the simulator has aided his rapid development.

Well done Freddie your hard work has paid off, and we are all proud of you.

How long have you been skiing?
I've skied for 14 years and first started when I was 3. I absolutely love the sport and have been racing around the country for the past 7.5 years.

What first attracted you to the sport?
Technically it was my parents interest in it that first got me started. However, I chose to keep going simply because of how enjoyable every session is. It's always fast paced and different each time, plus the mountains are a beautiful place to be.

When did you first get involved with the simulator?
I first went on the simulator back in May when my home slope's lift broke and I came to try it out. Like most people I, found it tricky at first but was enjoying it within 5 minutes. I was really keen to get involved with such a great piece of kit and started teaching on it that weekend.

What’s the best thing about the sim?
The best thing for me has got to be how easy it is to spot small mistakes and give detailed feedback. Each user is only ever a few metres away and the changes to their technique is instantaneous. They always come out of the bindings having made massive improvements and with a big smile on their face (even if they are a little bit tired).

What other hobbies do you have?
My main other hobby is baking. I absolutely love making big, highly decorated, celebration cakes for family and friends and challenging myself with more complex, technical recipies.

What was the last song you listened to?
The Lakes by Taylor Swift. (I'm a big Taylor Swift fan and have recently done my gold DofE in the lake district so really love this song).

And what was the last movie you watched?
I watched The Meg a while back but I'm going to see No Time To Die with friends on the 8th October which I'm very excited for.

Where will you be skiing this coming season?
Les Arcs in France (hopefully).

Pre-season testing

One of our ‘race-trained’ skiers (Freddie) put the simulator through its paces ahead of our formal opening.

Here you’re able to see the scale of the sim and the huge wrap-around screen that shows the course you are currently racing down. Bookings are now being taken from early May 2021 - checkout the ‘make a booking’ link above.

It’s arrived in the UK!

It all begins with an idea.

The date we’ve been waiting so long for is finally here - as last weekend the simulator arrived in the UK from mainland Europe - in a lot of very large boxes!

We have engineers booked in next weekend, who will be assembling and testing the sim before we then start our behind closed doors tests and the training of our staff. Following this, we will be giving access to small groups of children from the school initially, before opening our doors properly.

At the moment our hope is that we will be able to start taking bookings from late April - inline with Government guidance, but please stay tuned for more. We will also be arranging for our winners to get their free sessions as soon as we can.
